New Music Monday #1

Hey guys! Hope your Monday is going fantastic. I know I didn't want to go back to work after Easter. It's so hard going back to your normal schedule after a holiday. Especially the ones where you eat 50 lbs of food. Like sorry I just gained 20 pounds, I need to have a whole day to "hit the gym" and work this off haha! What did y'all do yesterday for Easter? I love hearing peoples traditions!

So I had this bright idea yesterday about starting another weekly segment. I'm a spotify addict, if that's a thing. I love music in general but something about Spotify that makes me want to discover music a lot more than normal. I would say I know a great bit of every kind of music but I know that isn't always the case. And I'm sure there is lots of people out there that want to discover awesome music but don't have the time or means.

And that is what I wanted to do with segment. To show you the music I find and/or jam to on a weekly basis. I will have music of all genres. Mostly all. I'm not going to torture myself with music I absolutely hate haha.

If there is a particular genre you would like for me to listen to, tell me! I will post the new songs/albums/artists I dig each week. I haven't thought of a set number yet, and it may just be different each week. But I think this is a great idea!

To be able to listen to right off of this page you need to be logged into spotify. I figure most of the world has a spotify account. If not, I will be adding a youtube or band site link below for an alternative way to listen to the song!

And with that being said, here we go!

I first discovered Lou Pine at SXSW this year. Jesse and I were wandering up and down 6th street and finally I turned to him and said let's just go in somewhere, I don't care where. And we walked into a bar and Lou Pine was playing. I instantly fell in love with them. I think they are better live, so if you ever hear of them in your area, definitely go see them!

I honestly don't remember how I found out about The Paper Kites. Sometimes I just go to a playlist and listen to it all and along the way if I really like a song I will follow the Artist. So this is probably one of those occasions. They sound so beautiful and their music is so calming. Something to listen to when you want to just have some down time, writing a blog post, or listening to on a field of grass watching the sky. Either of the three work great haha!

This one is a oldie, but a goodie. I have heard some things from Bon Iver over the years but I haven't really started listening to them until recently. I am sure you have all heard the song they did with St. Vincent "Roslyn" that was on Twilight. Oh you didn't know who sang that? Well now you do!

If you haven't heard of Alabama Shakes, you are doing something wrong with yourself. The best feel good music out there right now. Listen to this song and then come tell me how great you felt afterwards. It's so contagious, I promise!! ;)

This track is pretty cool. I mean Sia is a goddess. No one could ever replace her breath taking music. But I actually dig this cover of Chandelier. At first I didn't like it, but it grew on me and now I listen to it a lot! Tell me what you guys think!!

Calling at Britney Spears lovers!! All my 90's kids will love this!! Britney Spears is one of my idols, die hard fan here. But let me tell you, this cover of Toxic is UHHMAZING! So creepy and intriguing! I am obsessed with this cover. Melanie Martinez (Season 3 on The Voice) did her audition with a Toxic cover that sounded kind of similar to this.

Speaking of Melanie Martinez, here is her latest hit. It's so different than a lot of "pop" music that is out lately, so it's really refreshing. I have loved Melanie since the audition on The Voice and was so sad when she left; so I'm really happy to see her making such awesome music.

This one is for all the spanish speakers (and lovers)! I actually just found this one while making this list. I'm really digging it! It's so different than most hispanic music that I have heard. It's got this funky, jazzy, salsa-y vibe to it. I'm not an expert on the genres of hispanic music, so someone help me out. What genre would this fall under? I'm going to look up more music from them. They are good!!

I bet this one sounds familiar to you! It sounded really familiar to me to. I looked it up and it's on a taco bell commercial. I'm not too sure how popular they are, but this song came out this year. I'm still deciding whether I like this one or not haha!

For all you hardcore/pop punk lovers out there! Angel Du$t was formed with the vocalist for Trapped Under Ice. This whole album is beyond catchy. Jesse listens to it every day and he has me hooked. This particular album has the bassist of Code orange on it (I'll show you them another week)

Well you guys, I hope you like this new segment I'll be doing! I think I could show you guys some really awesome music, and that makes me really happy!!

Please let me know if you digged any of this music on the list! Oh, and if you totally want, tell me some music you dig too!

I promise from now on I will have it up in the mornings on Mondays, I just didn't get to finish this post yesterday.

Hope you guys have a fantastic day!!
