ASMR

Okay, so I may be the last person on earth to know about this but whatever I'm going to share it anyways. I was on Youtube last night and I came across this and thought it was the most amazing thing. So of course I wanted to share it with y'all!!

ASMR - AUTONOMOUS SENSORY MERIDIAN RESPONSE

Wikipedia defines it as: A neologism for a perceptual phenomenon characterized as a distinct, pleasurable tingling sensation in the head, scalp, back, or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, or cognitive stimuli. The nature and classification of the ASMR phenomenon is controversial, with a considerable cult following and a strong anecdotal evidence to support the phenomenon but little or no scientific explanation or verified data.

In a simpler form, ASMR is a physical sensation characterized by a pleasurable tingling that typically begins in the head and scalp, and often moves down the spine and through the limps.

Most ASMR episodes begin by an external or an internal trigger and are divided into classification. Type A are elicited by the experiencer using no external stimuli, and are typically achieved by specific thought patterns unique to the individual. Type B are triggered involuntarily by an external trigger, by one or multiple senses, and may also involve specific thought patterns associated with the triggering event. Both types of triggers differ with the individual, but many are common to a large portion of ASMR enjoys.

COMMON TRIGGERS ARE:

  • exposure to slow, accented, or unique speech patters
  • viewing educational or instructed videos or lectures
  • experiencing a high sympathetic or empathetic reaction to an event
  • enjoying a piece of art of music
  • watching another person complete a task, often in a diligent, attentive manner
  • close personal attention from another person
  • haircuts or other touch from another on head or back

Basically the different types work for different people. Some people could listen to someone whisper about dogs for an hour and calm them down or another person could watch someone rake some sand and that calm them down. You just need to find your own person like and I promise you this will be the easiest way to calm you down and put you at peace. I watched videos last night and I almost fell right asleep. It was amazing!
