My Current Go To Makeup Routine

Okay so this post isn't going to be super detailed in the photos. I wanted it to be more detailed but I have yet to figure out my dang camera. I get too anxious to make posts that I'm just like forget it, I'll update it later. It's more of a talk about makeup.

I used to be super into makeup. Since I have my cosmetology license you know I know how to do makeup. Not like brilliantly, but good enough. Well about the middle of last year is when my fiance (then boyfriend) and I had finally decided to move to San Marcos. Because of that we had to cut back on things like crazy to save as much money as we could. (which was hard because we love food). So I decided to cut back on my makeup spending. It was so hard at first. I'd watch all the youtube videos about the newest products. Which granted yes, most were set in the west where apparently they get the newest stuff first. I would literally make a list of everything I wanted to get and get dissapointed when I know I shouldn't be buying it. Well around September I believe, I saw this blog where a girl was going a whole month without makeup. I was like hey! I've never kept up with anything for a whole month straight. I thought to myself that this would be a great plan. No makeup would be my skin getting a break and trying hard to get it clear and smooth, and also saving money on makeup.

Let me be the first to say, that month was a changing point in my life. I went a whole month without makeup. Except like two days because I had wedding and a quinceanera to attend. In that month that I went without makeup, my face felt like it could actually breathe for once. I felt more ~fresh~ , my skin was clearing, and hey!.. extra time to sleep in. Who doesn't love extra sleep. It felt so great that when I DID put on makeup, my face instantly felt heavy unable to breath. Does that make sense? It just didn't seem right. Which was great because I learned to love the natural me. I actually prefered it.
Fast forward to now. What has changed?

Well I still to this day (since middle of last year), I have spent a grand total of about $50 on makeup. Fifty freaking dollars. Are you kidding me? That's makeup suicide! Not kidding. I mean I know people who spend just that amount on a bottle of foundation. Giorgio Armani anyone? Yeah that bottle is $62 people! Don't get me wrong, I would killlll for a bottle of the Luminous Silk Foundation. Annnnywho, so yeah, $50 and that is on a much of items. (NYX always has BOGO sales at ulta)
The best part? I am completely, totally, 100% okay with that!

I do put on makeup now, but I keep it to a minimum most days. Kind of like the "no makeup makeup" look but with a few tweaks. I can still "see" my skin under the foundation and my eyes aren't completely dolled up. I love it, I really do. I feel fresh and pretty haha!

Without further ado here is what I wearing at the moment!

Okay so I have them numbered with the order I put them on my face.

One: Loreal True Match Lumi foundation in W1. (I'm a sheet of paper) & Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream in Light. Now I use the Lumi more in the spring & summer months because of the dewyness it brings. I'm using it now because I just haven't went out and bought the actual foundation I like to use in the fall/winter time which is the Revlon ColorStay Oily/Combo foundation in Porcelain. I will use the BB cream when I am wanting a lighter day.

Two: NYX Hi-Definition Photo Concealer, which I use under my eyes, as a eye primer, and on top of my cheekbones. I have the Porcelain and lavender ones.

Three: NYX Color Correcting Powder (can't find a link). I'm using this in replacement for my other because I wanted to see if it worked good because it is less money. It is good but now as good as Physicians Formula Talc-Free Mineral Correcting Powder in Translucent.

Four: Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso. I cannot tell you enough about how amazing this blush is. perfect orange pink blush with a hint of sheen to it. It can go well with any skin color.

Five & Six: Okay Since that photo is so horrible I got a photo from the internet which isn't much better. Later I'll get my fiance to fix the camera and take a better picture. This is the Smashbox Wonder Vision Mega Pallet. I got it like two christmas's ago. It's amazing. For a long time I didn't use it because it was so nice and I didn't want to mess it up. Silly right? Okay so I use a pointed precison brush with one and put it all over my crease and a little higher since I have hooded eyes. It is a medium cool toned brown. Blend, blend, blend. I also use that under my eye on the outer 2/3 and to fill in my eye brows. Then I use a flat top brush with two to put all over my lid. its a light semi shimmer pink color. I get a pencil brush and three which is a really shiny metallic color and put that in the corner of my eye connecting to the brown under my eye.

Seven: Maybelline Illegal Length Fiber Extensions Mascara is my favorite drugstore mascara. It really does lengthen your lashes. Lord knows how short my lashes are so this is a great product. I also love, love, love Benefit They're Real Mascara! It literally is the most perfect mascara. Ugh I could talk about it all day!

So this is my current go to makeup routine, simple and sweet. I love the way my face feels with it on. It's not too much but just enough. I encourage everyone to try the no makeup month thing. It can seriously change your life. I don't think I could ever go back to wearing all the makeup I used to. Trust me on this people, just give it a try. I know it will be hard at first. A lot of people will ask if you are sick.. "oh my you are so pale, are you sick?' yeah that wasn't fun, but once your skin gets used to not being caked with makeup it will breath and be the freshest you could image and you will eventually love the way you look naturally. :)
